1. Introduction
Chip's Tech Repair ("we," "us," "our") is a sole-proprietorship electronics repair business operated by Tyler Juliano, based in Cape Coral, Florida. We provide board-level and micro-soldering repair services via local SWFL pickup/delivery and USA mail-in. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our website (chipstechrepair.com), text us for a quote, or send us a device for repair or buyback.
2. Information We Collect
a) Information you provide voluntarily:
- Name, phone number, and email address (when you text or email us for a quote)
- Device details: make, model, IMEI/serial number, storage capacity, condition description
- Photos or videos of your device or its damage (sent via text/MMS)
- Shipping address (for mail-in repairs and returns)
- Payment information (only as needed to process payment; we do not store card numbers)
- Any other information you include in messages
b) Information collected automatically:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4): IP address (anonymized), browser type, device type, pages visited, time on site, referral source
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 9)
c) Information from third parties:
- Shipping carriers (tracking numbers, delivery confirmation)
- Marketplace platforms (eBay, Swappa) for transaction records
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide repair quotes and communicate via text/email
- Perform the repair services you request
- Ship your device back to you
- Process buyback transactions and payments
- Track repair status (ticket system)
- Improve our website and services (analytics)
- Comply with legal obligations (tax records)
We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
- Contractual necessity: to fulfill your repair or buyback order
- Legitimate interest: to operate and improve our business, prevent fraud, ensure security
- Consent: for non-essential cookies and analytics
- Legal obligation: tax and business records per Florida and federal law
5. Data Retention
- Repair records: 3 years after completion, then deleted
- Text/email correspondence: 2 years, then deleted
- GA4 analytics: 14 months (Google default)
- Buyback/resale records: 7 years (tax compliance)
- Device photos: deleted 90 days after completion
6. Third-Party Sharing
- Shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx): name, address, tracking
- Google Analytics: anonymized usage data only
- Payment processors (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, BTC): transaction info only
- Legal authorities: only when required by law
We do NOT share data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards per the Florida Information Protection Act (FIPA), Fla. Stat. § 501.171. We do NOT access, copy, or browse personal content on your device beyond what is necessary for diagnosis and repair. Breach notification per FIPA (within 30 days).
8. Your Rights
As a Florida resident and/or US consumer:
- ACCESS: Request a copy of your data.
- CORRECTION: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- DELETION: Request deletion (subject to retention obligations).
- OPT-OUT: Opt out of non-essential cookies/analytics.
- NON-DISCRIMINATION: No penalty for exercising rights.

9. Cookies and Tracking
- Essential cookies: required for site functionality.
- Analytics cookies (GA4): understand site traffic. Opt out via GA Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
We do NOT use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking.
10. Children's Privacy
Not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Contact us to delete any such data.
11. Device Data Policy
- YOU are responsible for removing/disabling all accounts before sending: iCloud/Find My, Google/FRP, Samsung, Microsoft, carrier locks.
- We CANNOT and WILL NOT bypass activation locks. Locked devices held until credentials provided or returned unrepaired at your cost.
- We do not access personal content unless required for repair with your prior text consent.
- Recycling/disposal devices: secure data wipe (factory reset + overwrite) before physical destruction when feasible.
- Back up your device before sending. We are not liable for data loss during repair.
12. Changes to This Policy
Updated periodically. "Last updated" date reflects latest revision. Continued use = acceptance.
